Editing Software

Your PC or Mac usually ships with a basic video editing package. On the PC it's Windows Movie Maker and on the Mac it's iMovie. Both are actually pretty good for basic editing purposes and if that's all you need, you might be all set.

If your PC didn't ship with Windows Movie Maker, you can download it for free. There's also a great resource for using it called Windows Movie Makers.

iMovie also has some great resources. One of the more informative ones is "The Unofficial iMovie FAQ."

Other Video Editing Software Packages

Most start at around $50 and go up from there, with the professional packages costing anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars.
